No, I would say that indifference is the mean between love and hate.
I don't know, is that fairly self-explanatory?

I disagree.
The opposite of love is hate. The dividing line between the two is very narrow at times.

i would have to agree. i know people say the opposite f love is hate but that is not true i think the opposite of live is indifference cause if you love someone or something you feel all emotions for them. but when you are indifferent you feel nothing. so opposites right there. this is only my opinion but there it is! :)

No, I don't agree. The opposite of love is hate, but the absence of love is indifference. Without feeling love for something or someone, there is no immediacy to connect. Love involves your whole being, so without love, you're indifferent. Considering love's "opposite", I would have to say it is hate, because, with indifference, it implies neutrality,non-attachment of varying degrees, some feeling may exist. Love implies caring, devotion, admiration. Indifference is not part of this equation. But hate, implies lack of the feelings of love, contempt, disdain. Indifference does not exist here either. So the opposite of love is hate.

In order for someone to hate something they MUST have a strong emotional connection to it. In many cases that emotional connection started out as love and events shifted it to hate. In other cases that sponsoring emotion was fear and the hate evolved to cover the fear. Therefore I agree with the previous comment that indifference is the opposite of BOTH love and hate. You cannot love or hate something that you are indifferent to. Strong emotions require a strong emotional connection, either positive (love) or negative (hate) towards the object of the love or hate.

Yes, love and hate are categorized as emotions.
Indifference is the complete lack of emotion.

Disagree.
The opposite of 'indifference' is 'caring' or 'concern'.
The opposite of 'love' is 'hate'.
I can give a number of reasons to back it up but I need to know first why you think what you think or I'll go on forever.
So you back up your opinion and I'll back up mine.

Hmm...tough one!
I firmly believe the opposite of luv IS NOT hate.
You have to luv someone to hate them so....
So I would say the opposite of love is FEAR.
think about it....no explanation needed.

agree
simple reason why I think so: chemicals in the brain
a person who is in love has a brain remarkably similar in its chemicals and activity to a drug addict's brain( because of high levels of dopamine in both cases)
It is scientifically proven that romantic love is like an obsession, bordering psychosis.
a person who is indifferent has very low levels of dopamine.
