Unlike the other answers you have received, you are going into a career in sales... you MUST concentrate on your communication skills, both oral and written. (Improving your speaking skills is highly important; and you need good writing skills for the many contracts you will put together). I suggest a major in Communications with perhaps a minor in Business. Should you change your mind regarding careers, the degree in Communications will open a great many doors for you.

It would be best to major in Real Estate Studies (ie, Business in property assessments prepare individuals to develop, buy, sell, appraise, and manage real property. Includes instruction in land use development policy, real estate law, real estate marketing procedures, agency management, brokerage, property inspection and appraisal, real estate investing, leased and rental properties, commercial real estate) with a minor in General Business, Real Estate Law or Real Estate property management.. Or you could go the quick route:WITH THE
QUICK START TRAINING PROGRAM - it is a 45-hour course is designed to make the new agent competitive in today's market.

But better for back up careers. And to be "The" broker you need a Bachelor in Real Estate. not just a agent license which takes about a weekend course or one semester (and later take a state test). Some companies will hire you with that weekend license and then send you to school.. Good luck.

FURTHER STUDES may include : A bachelor or master degree n your Area of studies: is best:

Facility Management, Property
Real Estate Finance
Real Estate Investment
Real Estate Property Management
Real Estate Sales
Real Estate Construction
Valuation of Residential Property
Valuation of Income-Producing Property

Business and Real Estate. I would suggest Commercial Brokerage then move into development as a career. Worked out well for me.

Good luck.

I'm not sure why you are going to college. Most of the agents I have known (my Mom was one so many of our family friends were agents) did not have degrees.

That being said, I would say something business oriented if you are trying to get ahead of the game. Marketing, finance, etc.

Just get a degree. Most people never end up using their degree. People with degrees have an advantage over people who don't. Get your degree in something you think would be fun to have.

what my dad did was get the license but try to ask people that are already agents for some pointers and they can teach you alot about the job that you wouldnt have learned elsewhere.
