My friends are into anime allot, so I'm trying to get into it to. I can never seem to get into the anime I'm watching. I don't want naruto that show sucks. And I don't want fighting. Romance is good.

How about watching Final Fantasy VII Advent Children first? Most people like it.

If youre starting out on watchin anime. Then i suggest watching anime movies first. Vampire Hunter D was my first movie, so has alot of other fans that i know of. But if you plainly just want romance. Then heres some good ones.

Moonphase
Disgaea
Ah My goddess
Chobits
Nadia
Love hina is an awesome romance story. But only in its manga form. So stay away from its anime counterpart. Oh, and dont bother trying to watch Air (tv) as one answerer mentioned. Its hardly romantic except for 1 episode which was the only thing good about that show. So good that it made a 2 part special which extended the story to it. But despite that. Its not worth watching.

I'm a guy so I won't be too much help...
But one of the first animes I ever got into was Robotech.
I loved to watch the fighting robots but in order to view that... you had to watch the mushy mushy mushy mushy stuff.
There's more romantic animes out there without fighting but Robotech is just BLEH!
And to top it all off... Pop music saves the world.

There are a lot of good animes. FLCL, also called Fooly Cooly, is a very good anime that doesn't have a lot of violence. Great soundtrack, too.
Robotech is a long anime series that came out in 1985. More fighting but its what fostered interest in anime in the US.
I don't care for it but Lupin III is an anime a lot of folks like.
One movie thats a good start is Robot Carnival.
It's a kids cartoon, but Hamtaro is interesting in how it reveals a bit on Japanese culture.

The girl Valkyrie, is in love with that boy. The boy is in love with Valkyire, 17+8 you do the math, kind perverted. See the show and you see why, bout really good story)

hey! you try to watch Chronicle of the Wings( its a very romantic anime series)if you kinda fell not liking the anime you're watching...then just don't bother your self...go into some interesting stuffs that could warm your heart...

ok, i recommend either Fruits Basket or Chibi Vampire. they are both basically romance (with comedy!) i've read the manga of both and watched the shows. i would definately watch them! but, if you don't like blood, then don't watch Chibi Vampire....lots of blood....lol! ^-^ oh and theres also Trinity Blood (more vamps but is romantic) inuyasha, chobits definately! and....Loveless. watch them at youtube.com for free
