Edit: Many reasons.
Mine are: ability to shop world-wide; hard to find items are more likely to be found; limits impulse buying; is a lovely way for an introvert to shop; makes Christmas shopping easy to spread out over the year. Those are all that are coming to mind at the moment. Best wishes on your thesis. ; )

Definitely for the price.
College student= always looking to save money.
I buy most if not all of my textbooks off of Amazon and ebay.
Great for cheap music too! ^_^

You can get items for quite a bit cheaper than you would elsewhere and often locate hard-to-find items. For instance, I found one of my favorite movies that was out of print.
