A bunch of friends and i are heading to Spain in March. We're looking at areas to live in (either Hostals or rent an Apt). Any suggestions on locations near tourist areas as well as nightlife?

In Madrid your best bet is La Latina or Moncloa (studenty). I doubt that you´ll find an apartment on a short rent unless you are willing to pay a higher price than the hostels. The hostels in the city centre are cheap so I would suggest that. Search for Cats hostel in Madrid and email them asking for a quote for 5 people... you should get something evry competitive.... and the nightlife is in front of the door :-)

If you are in Barcelona i would realy recomend staying near 'las ramblas'it is a long street with lots of night life on either side.Around that area there is a metro station which brings you to the airport. So it all depends what hotel you want to stay in.
