A palindrome is a word that reads both the same backwards as it does forward.
parterretrap is a famous Dutch one. No English one comes to mind right now, but then again it's 2AM now and I'm sleepy. ;)

And yes, 12am/midnight's antithesis would be noon, as some ppl already pointed out helpfully. What exactly is the question though?
