The Liberals have a stranglehold on minorities by telling them that certain other people (generally the people who run businesses and Republican) want to keep them down, that is the Republicans fault that they are poor and that the only way they will ever succeed in life is by supporting the Democrats. The problem is, the way one gets ahead in this country is not by depending on the government, it's by hard work. The saddest part is that the Democrats actually have a vested interest in keeping people down, since these are the people that vote for them. So if a minority member is successful and powerful and not a Democrat, the Dems start calling them all kinds of names, saying that they are evil traitors. Very sad.
As for the proof you are all asking for, 1. The Republican Party was formed expressly to end slavery, and 2. In order to pass the Civil Rights Act, (Democrat) President Johnson had to get the Republicans to break the Senate filibuster(by Democrats) and needed Republican Senate votes to pass the bill. Some very famous Dems (i.e. Senator Robert "KKK" Byrd and Senator Al Gore, Sr for example) voted against the Civil Rights Act - study History kids, you will learn a lot more than from watching the news on Comedy Central.

You are almost getting the nail!
Group mentality Minorities who usually try to promote their group do it for the payoff that they have become accustomed to receiving for being what the Dims like to have as their payed off repressed voting block!
I doubt very seriously if Dr. Rice, Clarence Thomas, General Colin Powell and many other Americans even think of themselves as anything other than Americans!
Take away the "Special Treatment" stuff like affirmative action and Minority programs which have all far outlived their original goals and usefulness, and I would be willing to bet that the group mentality would just no longer be worth a socialized dime!

This is going to sound harsh but the Democrat has always been the rob from the rich give to the poor party. And culturally speaking the majority of beneficiares of this agenda have been minorities. The one failure of Democracy is that the people will always vote for more payments from the public treasury, they will always vote for the person who promises to give them more, this is the policy of the Democrat. You're right Republicans have given minorities more chances at self-determination, but Democrats have the better reputation because they support the welfare mentality.

There is an increasing number of "minorities" that are seeing the Democrat party as what it is, a party that wants to continue public entitlements and welfare programs to keep the poor reliant on them. Republicans have been falsely vilified by Democrats for being the "party of the rich", when it is the Democrat that is perpetuating the cycle of poverty in America. Many Black-Americans are waking up and thinking for themselves. They are seeing their "leaders" (Jackson, Sharpton, Farakhan) as the charlatans and race-profiteers that they are.
