Could one of you nice computer savvy people explain the difference to me, I'm looking at the stats for my web site and not really understanding what the numbers mean. The hits # is huge compared to the visits #. Thanks in advance

"Hits", in the raw form, counts every download from your site. So a visit to your home page could score hits for the page itself, the background, every graphic, etc. But all those hits just count as one visit. I think most web counters count a visit only when the visitor first arrives at you site. So as she moves from page to page, the hit counter continues to count all those individual files being served, but it's still just one visit. What the software is looking at is whether the visitor is coming from an outside site or not, so is the visitor goes to another site and then comes back, I think they count that as a second visit.

Alright, most of the time I am good with computers but this is up in the air with me. If I was to guess I would say that the "Visits" might be how many times people have visited your website, but have no guess on what "Hits" are. Dont take it from me though, Hope you find what you are looking for. Brodster

Great answer from pomegranatefluff finally i get it finally it's CLEAR
FINALLY SOMEONE CAN GIVE A CLEAR ANSWER BECAUSE HE UNDERSTAND HIMSELF. I think Hits are really important as you see same person is interested and checking out more and more pages so it's a good statistic if there are lots of hits too! YOU DON'T MARRY SOMEONE ON THE FIRST DATE NORMALLY SO MORE VISITS MEANING CLOSER TO THE WEDDING!

'Hits' are how many times total anyone has visited the page, including multiple visits by the same person, or IP address. 'Visits' on the other hand are 'unique hits.' This means that it only counts the number of unique people who have visited your site.

For example, if I am visiting your page every day for a week - you'll get 7 hits from me, but only 1 visit.

Techno and trance, the two primary dance music genres that branched off from house in the late 1980s and early 1990s respectively, can share this basic beat infrastructure, but usually eschew house's live-music-influenced feel and black or Latin music influences in favor of more synthetic sound sources and approach. To reiterate more clearly, house music has a syncopated feel that can vary from "lightly shuffled" to nearly a swung type feel. Trance strictly uses straight 8th notes, and any syncopation comes from the irregular placement of these notes.

So do the visits mean that the same person is returning to your site?
