1. Be friendly and couteous
2. Know how to deal with different types of people including those who are rude: how to be firm and yet professional
3. Know your company/organization and stay up to date on the information so that you can help the visitors withour having to constantly calling someone else.
4. When there aren't many visitors to occupy your time; make sure you have some back up company work to do. Ask your boss for work you can do at your desk when you aren't busy with the reception. Your boss will appreciate you more for it and you'll feel better about yourself too. Reading the newspapers or magazines does not present a good image for yourself or your company.

Gd Recep ... Erm...

1) Friendly attitude, Bright personalty
2) Knows the ongoing of the office, (eg the in & out of the staff, the ext numbers, faxs number the correct dept to pass calls to...)
3) Patience
4) Multilingual?? (basic - English, Chinese at the least)
5) Alert (coz front desk mah. must look alert ... oh n oso neat.. ur appearance is the company.
6) Polite (answer call wif a greeting and end call wif 'hv a nice day')
7) Cheery voice...

there's more I think but these r all I can think of.. Most important I guess shld be attitude lah and respect for cust. rgdsless how they r u shld handle them wif a smile ^_^

If you want to be a goof receptionist, you should:
- Always smile (friendly)
- Delicated
- Want to know more and more
- Most important: work and work hard
