In many places (even in the US in some places still) technically YES its a crime.. a crime is anything any particular government has defined by law as criminal.. in some places it is a capitol crime (death sentence) as in most muslim law countries (death by beheading, hanging or stoneing) for instance. There are still many anti homosexuality laws on the books in the USA so dont get cocky people.. they are just rarely enforced, and when they come to the SC they are usually overturned

But yeah still a crime in many places in the USA as they havent repealed the laws yet...

If a crime is defined by an act that is hazardous or detrimental to society than obviously no. However, crimes take on different forms in different cultures. Many religious people view anything other than man-woman sex in a married condition as abhorrent, therefor a crime, or close to it.
Since one cannot be arrested in the US for simply being gay technically it is not a crime.

"Sodmy" used to be a crime in all 50 states, as of about 47 years ago. Illinois became the first state to de-criminalize in 1961 and later on in the 1970s several more states de-criminalized. Eventually, the U.S. Supreme Court said, in 2003, that all of the remaining state laws against "sodomy" had to go because that kind of law is unconstitutional.

But there is still one law left in the U.S. which "bans" sodomy. It isn't a "crime," but it is grounds for getting kicked out of the Armed Forces -- the Uniform Code of Military Justice still bans homosexual conduct.

I think people are missing the point by treating this as a homophobia question.

Depending on the part of the world, yes it is. In some parts, you can get put to death for it. Some laws in some parts of the world related to homosexuality only applies to males and not females.

I'm not homophobia (if anyone seen my other answers), I'm just answering it as it is.

How can a sexual orientation be a crime? That would be like asking if heterosexuality is a crime.

Nope. There is nothing illegal about being gay. Bible beaters say it's a sin and they talk about sodomy. Well I've got news!! Sodomy is NOT a homosexual act. Heterosexuals do that, but I suppose THAT makes it ok. The morons in this country try to punish those who live their lives as they have a right to, but there's no law against being gay - nor should there be.
