It is a beautiful gift! I don't know what he meant by giving it to you, but the typical meaning behind it is supposed to be kinda like the past present and future ring. it starts off small becaue it's like your relationship when it was in the baby stages. And is grows, like your love is supposed to grow. My next bet would be an engagement ring because once a guy gets you really nice diamonds, he can go lower.

they dont have any meaning, they are just another way for jewelers to sell more diamonds
but they are pretty. :)
