We've been friends since 7th grade(we're in 12th now) He's my best friend but now whenever i'm around him he's bitter about everything. And he makes fun of everyone else and how he hates so many people(some of who are my other friends). And i get mad about stuff too while he talks and gets me all resentful of others too. But he's always been there for me, but he's just soo bitter it annoys me. So the question is should i tell him to talk about other stuff or just let him vent the whole time?

DEFINITELY tell him how how hes making you feel, for starters. Its no good for someone to make YOU just as bitter/upset/angry as they are. If hes really your best friend, he would take your feelings into consideration as well. And if he KNOWS hes like this, I would suggest spending less time with him. Best friend or not, its really not fair for him to bring you down too.

You say he's your best friend. He makes fun of people. He's bitter. He hates a lot of people. He's making you, like him. I just listed 4 RED flags about this guy. He's never been there for you, if he acts that way . He's there for himself. I would lose him, and let him vent to himself ! You deserve better.

you should try telling him about it first. this JUST happened to me. i was best friends with this girl for 4 yrs and then she totally changed for rher bf and became very bitter and negative towards everything. either you tell him and hes tries to change- or if it bothers you that much and he wont even consider changing u guys should go ur separate ways. i know the latter choice sounds extreme but its worht it. you'll find so many more great people in your life. take it from someone with experience in the situation ;]
good luck!

I'm sure he just needs to vent. But if he doesn't stop whining then tell him to stop being so bitter.

It sounds like you need to spend less time with him. He's a downer and you need to surround yourself with people who will lift you up, not bring you down. Lose him.
