I agree with "horse lover & proud of it", but horses really aren't the best pet. Not for beginners, anyway.
Fish are probably the best. They do not need a huge amount of care, and once you buy an aquarium, after that, nothing really gets to expensive. 5 gallon aquariums are perfect. They are small enough that you can pick up and carry outside to clean them out. They need a half-water change every 2-3 weeks, and a full-water change about once a month. And if a fish dies..it's really no sad process like a dog or cat. hahah...put it in it's toilet-bowl-casket and flush it to fishy heaven. no biggy. good luck!!!

I would say it all depends on your life style,if you have a full time schedule and are not home for many hours at a time,a cat would be good,as long as they have food, water, and somewhere to poop they are happy.Dog's also make great pets providing you have the time for them!

I think it's individual preference. We have 2 cats and a dog. My wife and I love all of our animals equally, but I am clearly a cat person and she is a dog person. I like the independence of cats and they ours are lap cats so they are very loving and cuddly. Dogs require alot more attention but tend to listen better than cats.

Dogs! Loyal pets, smarter, they obey your commands. It's also psychologically proved that owners of dogs have a closer family. I know it sounds strange, but I was a psychology major and I remember that being discussed

Dog. But more of a family member than a pet.

Fish. I have had a betta for the past 3 years (Tina). She has moved with me twice, has never had an accident and keeps me mildly entertained for brief peiods of time.

Cats, definitely. They are easy to take care of, easy to feed, and do not have to go on daily walks like dogs do. They are also very independent, so you can leave them alone for hours, and they can take care of themselves.
