I am a Junior and I have had bad grades (A,B,C,Ds) but then I turned it around junior year taking all a.p. courses (6) basket ball team, many clubs, and I have a perfect SAT Math and Critical Reading score, near perfect writes.

What else do I need to get in I if I still can?

It is my dream to go to Harvard undergrad and I screwed up first two years due to family and medical problems.

Well, it doesn't hurt to apply, but I wouldn't count on it. It's very rare for an Ivy to take anybody who's not at the top of their class - SAT scores can only go so far, especially at a school where half the admitted class has perfect scores in addition to perfect grades.

I would look into other schools, and also at Harvard - why do you want to go there? There's a good chance it's just the prestige that you like unless you've visited, talked to alumni, researched their programs, etc.

What you may want to do is to call or email their admissions office (after they're done with this year's batch of applications, perhaps), and ask them what they think. If you make it very clear that you had some funky circumstances your first two years, maybe you will have a shot. Good luck!

If you want to go to Harvard -- and do not get into Harvard College -- there is another route to consider -- Harvard Extension school. You will receive a bona fide Harvard degree at a fraction of the cost of going through Harvard College. The admission requirements are totally different than Harvard College.

Please read the web site attached very carefully. This may just be your passport to an Ivy Leaque education!

Like others have said, you should go ahead and apply but you're going to have to have virtually perfect grades for the rest of high school to have any chance of getting in.

If I were you, I would go to the best school possible for undergrad, work your butt off, and then try to get into Harvard for graduate school. The school that you get a graduate degree from is more important anyway

This is going to sound like a SA answer but it is not.

Chances are very slim. If you have a ton of money and connections, maybe. If you are a minority with a ton of money and connections as they don't expect minorities to be very smart anyway, maybe.

I would not count on it. Mostly they take people who are serious about education.

Good luck
