There are several ways to answer this question.
First: Did you always make $10/hour? If not (pretend it was $8) I have consistently received raises since starting
Second: They normally start employees out at $8/hour; however, since they knew how valued of an employee I am I receive $10/hour
Third: I wanted to get my foot in the door so I took a salary that is not comparable to what I do.
The important thing to remember is if you feel embarrassed about your salary, it will convey to potential employers that you have no self-worth.
Employers must answer the following questions to a prospective employer:
Date of hire
Starting salary
Ending salary
Would you re-hire.
So yes, be honest in your answers.
Good luck

Tell the truth. But also tell what your salary expectations would be for a new position. If you were a good employee at L&T and think you should be making $13 as a bank teller then you can say that. Don't be greedy - do your research and give a reasonable expectation of something they would start a good talented employee at.

Depends on the consent you gave them to do a background check. And typically, they do ask for salary...and if you are working for a large bank...they will do a background check, credit check, employer references check, may want to see your employee file, and do a drug screen test.
Never lie in an interview....it'll only embarrass you later on...You'll get caught.

I do not think they would call and ask for your wage from your current employer, but just tell them the truth and tell them the reason you look for new job because better paid and better benefit.
Good luck .

You're in a very bad system when that happens, IMO. It's like one slave owner exchanging information with the other. Really, it's none of their beezwhacks.
That's why it's so important to eventually be in your own business, where you're not subject to this sort of treatment.
