I tried keeping her up until 7 or 8 and she is so cranky. Then its worse the next morning because she wakes up at 5 am still but will take a longer nap.

6 is a little bit early to go to bed, but she is sleeping 11 hours a night! that is perfect. the 40 minute nap is a little bit short, but she is getting enough sleep all together. when my son was one, he only slept about 9 hours at night, and he would nap for about an hour a day. go ahead and try to shift your daughter's schedule a little bit, if you want her to sleep longer. just do it slowly so you don't disrupt everything, like put her to bed 10 minutes later each night. and keep in mind her schedule will probably fluctuate a lot in the next year or so.

I think that every baby is different. My daughter is 11 months old and her schedule is wake up at 10 am, take a nap from 3-5 and then she goes to bed for the night at 9:30 . and its pretty much exactly the same everyday...

Evey child is different. But it sounds like she is getting enough sleep. I know a barely 2 year old who goes to bed @ like 10-10:30 and wakes up @ 7-7:30 and doesn't take a nap at all...it depends on the child, ask the pediatrician

My son who is 20 months and has had this same pattern since he was a year:

Sleeps at 8pm wakes up at 6am
Naps 11-2 or 12-3

-Except this past sunday he only took a 10 minute nap. Your child is gonna sleep as much as she needs so if she is healthy and doing good than there isnt anything to be worried about.

That sounds okay. Mine is 10 months, but she is on what her doc calls "the one year old schedule" already. She goes to bed at 8pm, gets up at 6:30am and takes one 2 hour nap somewhere between 12 and 3. She does great.

The sleeping pattern for one year olds at MY house is a nap between about 1 and 3pm, and bed from 7pm till 7am.
