Okay, so first off, I live in CA, I go to a private school called New Vista. This is NOT a religious private school.
At lunch, today, we were joking about our imaginary friend, a blue starfish, moo moo. okay, its an inside joke, moo moo has a crush on my friend kristyn and is a girl. so she is a lesbian.
someone at the table asked if moo moo was a guy, cause it liked kristyn, and i said no moo moo is a girl, she is a lesbian. (I myself am bisexual, we were not making fun of lesbians in case you take that wrong. I was just clearing up their mistake.)
well anyways, a teacher, over heard our conversation and heard the word lesbian and told us that our conversation was inappropiate and we shouldnt talk about anything sexually inappropiate at school. We were NOT talking about sex. just that a starfish was a lesbian. I told her that we werent talking about sex and there was nothing wrong with being gay and she said "im not saying there is anything wrong with it...im saying its sexually inappropriate." again, we were NOT talking about sex at all.

(at break earlier in the day my friend had a giant banana. and we joked about it sexually, and we do a lot. she did not interrupt as while talking about that. nor has she ever interrupted us when we actually did talk about sex. )

So after, me and my friends went to the princible, because the teacher wasn't listening to us. and we all talked with her about how it was offencive. The princible took our side.

I asked if I could speak with the princible as well as the teacher later in the day.
So they pulled me out of my class to talk about it.
Now however, the princible took the teachers side. and she was saying about how saying "homosexual, lesbian, gay, etc..." was not allowed at school because the younger kids (7th - 12th go to my school. they arent that young) shouldn't be exposed to words like that and my "alternative lifestyle" they really did use the word exposed and alternative lifestyle, which made me more angry. I told them that offended me even more and they said because it was school I couldn't say that stuff. I was a little trapped at this point because they werent listening to anything i said (my friends were in class so it was just me) so I told them, I would read up on my rights and the law, and speak about this again to them.

I NEED HELP!!!!!!

I need to find some sort of proof that they are violating rights, like the law.
because i am pretty sure that this is breaking the law.

again, THIS IS NOT A RELIGION SCHOOL!

it is a private school for kids with "learning differences" in otherwords, ADD, ADHD or whatever sort of thing that makes public school difficult. I go there cause i have ADD.

okay, it offended me even more when she said we were "exposing" the younger kids to this (as if we were poisoning them) and when she said it was an alternative lifestyle. we werent talking about sex when the teacher made that comment, we were only saying moo moo was a lesbian. so it wasnt graphic at all.

Your conversation was not appropriate for school. However, I am sure that the teacher in question and the principal (note spelling) are bigoted idiots. It may well be that another inappropriate topic would have been ignored by them.

You are attending a private school. You basically have no rights. And unless the school is receiving public funding, the school gets to call all the shots without recourse from you. At any rate, you would not be able to take action against any school. Your parents would have to do so on your behalf.

While one can admire your sense of fairness, the way to have handled the situation would have been to remain quiet about it, spoken to your parents and then have them intercede for you with the administration. The bottom line is that you are a student, and generally speaking, teachers and principals don't give a damn what students like or dislike or what they want.

While what the teacher and principal did was wrong, I don't see anything that would violate the law. It borders on violating laws in effect in some places, but because of a lot of specifics it doen't violate a single one. I'd suggest writing down *everything* that happened, when it happened, and who was there. If it continues, continue the list until you have a solid case to take up with someone. I'm not sure who specifically since it's a private school in another state. Also, if you have your parent's support I suggest talking to them about it and getting them involved. The principal might be more willing to talk with the people that are paying her. This may get you into a little trouble, but also mention the fact that you had talked about other sexual subject matter and that the teacher said nothing about more inappropriate subjects like the uses for the banana.

As I understand it, it doesn't matter who runs the private school (be it a church or not), the fact that it's a private school pretty much lets them get away with whatever they want. You could try calling the principal out as a PERSON for agreeing with you earlier, and then completely caving, but that's about it. Beyond that, decide whether or not it's worth leaving the school over, and either threaten to do so, or else just kinda live with things until you graduate, and then never give them a penny (Or, better yet, once you're fabulously successful, start a scholarship there for GLBT students).

Unless she demanded you shutup or leave the school, abused you physically, or threatened your life, she's broken no law.

Respect your elders. That doesn't mean you let them walk all over you, but show some respect. An imaginary starfish is the last thing you should talk about, lesbian or not, at an educational facility.

Protests are very often the result of misunderstandings or offense taken in the wrong light.

God bless.

same-intercourse marriage is a civil rights situation there is distinction between a criminal marriage and a non secular marriage. A criminal marriage is a criminal settlement between 2 human beings. to achieve this, you could pass for the duration of the courtroom device, which from my information has no longer something to do with a church/faith. criminal marriage performs no area in faith. the difficulty i assume is human beings think of gay marriage will tension church homes to allow gay marriage. No it won't! A church can refuse to marry every physique using fact they could do what they decide for. yet their desires shouldn't dictate US coverage. Being gay is not greater of a decision than having brown eyes. the two are organic and organic. The bible is a decision of fairy-thoughts written by using men who did no longer understand how the international worked. that's used to regulate human beings gay persons in basic terms decide for equivalent rights under the regulation. they don't seem to be attempting to alter religious dogma. people who factor to the bible for info against gay marriage could examine the e book slightly greater heavily. they decide for to %. and choose what to have faith. that's amazingly unhappy. If something effects their existence in by using some potential, they say "We shouldn't take it actually." yet as quickly as something does not effect their lives, yet many others, they are fascinated in it. Why do no longer the religious combat for re-naming criminal marriage? considering's purely a non secular term, why can the government use it? And which faith claims carry of the be conscious? Christians? What approximately Muslims who get a criminal marriage? Or Mormons? isn't that incorrect too? you will in no way pay attention a mundane reason against gay marriage. as quickly as the government was once conscious 'marriage', it grew to grow to be secular. Separation of church and state, human beings are not getting it

Sex, Sexuality, sexual preferances, sexual identity...They're ALL inappropriate topics for schools unless in the context of a Sexual Education class.

You can't talk like that at an office, what makes you think you can talk like that at school?

unfortunately she didn't do a single thing wrong, she was just telling you that you shouldn't talk about certain subjects in school, even though you werer talking about your sexuality and not sex in paticular it is still inappropriate to talk about it in a school sitting. Sorry you lose this time around.
