I love movies. I hate lugging around a protable DVD player every time I want to watch one on the go. Or go without when I can't sit with a machine the size of a child's laptop.
Would it be worth it to ask my parrents for a Video iPod for my birthday?
I'd feel bad to no end for a while, asking for something so expensive when I can't even bring myself to look at the grocery recipt. Is it worth it to have something so trivial? I know I'd enjoy it. But I could always go with another pair of socks. Or just not have them buy anything for me untill my birthday so I don't feel as bad.

If you want an Ipod video and love to watch movies, then be prepared to fork over a couple hundred bucks to Itunes for download. FYI: Ipod video only supports .mp4 format.
I would advise against it, buy a creative Zen M instead.

You can try to raise money or ask for it for your birthday like you said. My friend has an ipod video and honestly, i would rather lug around a portable DVD player. The downsides are that you have to pay 14.99 per movie on itunes and that is so overrated! Another downside is that the screen is pretty small. However, if you know that you will enjoy it, then go ahead and ask for it! It's always nice to have movies and music on the go! Don't get me wrong, I would love to have one too, but they are pretty expensive. Especially the 80GB. I suggest the 30GB unless you really love movies. Try ebay.com! If you do end up having the ipod video, enjoy!!!

If you want to watch movies, then use a DVD player and a TV. The iPod video screen is kind of small to be watching movies. The Playstation Portable's screen is bigger than the iPod Video screen, and I wouldn't watch movies on the Playstation Portable.
The iPod video is mostly good for listening to music on the go. It's also great if you want to carry pictures. The games are okay, but not that great.
If you're going to use it to listen to music and watch movies, then go ahead and ask for it, but know that it's about 10 bucks to download a movie from iTunes, and the selections are very limited. Much better if you just buy the DVD than to download the movie from iTunes. You can't transfer a movie to the iPod video without a 3rd party software.

I would say yes you should get it. Because it is better than having to carry something huge on your lap like a portable DVD player. But you can carry an Ipod around just like that!

I got a Video ipod and love it! If you love movies, it's definitely worth it!

if that would make you happy do it... but then look for a used or refurbished one so that it would be cheaper, also try doing some small jobs to pay part of the ipod

there are better things than apple stuff... plus, i dont think you will be using it after 1.5 years. it's too expensive to invest on that.
try to think about it... buy something really expensive so that you can waste more time? better buy a cool phone instead... it would still be cheaper.

Who said they have to buy it for you... don't put aniety on yourself and save up some money and ask them to contribute to the item.

yes it's perfect in the car, plane or even in restaurant for yourself or let a kid use it and their quiet... small enough to fit nicely in a pocket or a purse !
