fix it now or stop driving the car this isnt something you want to break while your driving. that turns a 50-100.00 shop repair into a 300-400.00 repair when you need a new driveshaft and have to pay a tow bill. btw ive been a mechanic for 22 years.

Let's put it this way.....if it breaks, your BEST case scenario is that you are completely stranded. The WORST case scenario is that you lose control when the driveshaft drops and catapults you up in the air........and kill yourself and other people. If you can deal with any of that or anywhere in between, keep on truckin'!

(I had a UV joint break on me on the highway one time in a van.....the driveshaft dropped and hurled the back of the van in the air about 3 feet before it came down at almost 70 mph. I kept control and parked the van on a hill on the side of the highway. After I got out of the van, I had to chase it down I-35 because the driveshaft was not connected to the transmission......hence NO PARK gear. Ask yourself this......if you can't afford to have it fixed, can you REALLY AFFORD TO DRIVE and RISK ALL OF THIS?)

Please look at your car's drive shaft this way: The drive shaft moves the car via the transmission via the engine. No drive shaft, no movement. If it's making a lot of rumbling and knocking sounds whilst you are driving the car, you may get around the state with no trouble, or about five inches before the whole thing comes apart dramatically!! Fix it already please.

The drive shaft is what drives the car so it is very important,if it is making that kind of noise you probably don't have very long before it comes loose and costs you even more money...

Wow driveshaft if your driveshaft is broken you cannot drive it might be that you need new rod bearings the knocking could be from the pistons.

all you need is universal joints(2)they attach to the front and back of the driveshaft, both should be less than 10.00

your on borrowed time for sure, could let go anytime and leave you stranded if it's making that kind of noise, get it fixed, not that big of a job.
