I like Microsoft Money. I have the latest version of it and it comes with 6 months on-line support free. I helps with budgeting, tracking spending, and online account registers. I can even balance your check book by comparing online statements with what you have entered. In addition to that you can access Money online anytime away from your computer and tap into your personal finances anywhere securely. I'm not trying to sell Money to you LOL! :-) but why use a paper ledger when something like this is much easier and more accurate. It even reminds you of upcoming bills and can enter it into your register for you! Check out Microsoft Money 2007 and I believe it has a demo and a free 30 day trial.

There a variety of programs that can manage your check book and monitor your spending. Like most things in life, you can choose to spend a lot or spend a little. They range from freeware to high priced QuickBooks or MS Money. How much money do you want to spend? If not a lot....then go to this address http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT101172321033.aspx and download one of the higher rated templates available. They will work fine. Another solution is to make your own. The advantage is it tailored to your specific needs rather than trying to meet the needs of everyone. My recommendation is use an excel template from the MSN web address above or do a google on freeware budget/checkbooks plenty of freeware programs available that are quite adequate.

application could make monitoring fees much less stressful, even though it could no longer do something you may no longer do on a sheet of paper. I PROMISE you have already got a spreadsheet software on you laptop. you may music your 'envelopes' with it.
