I am trying to claim disability retirement in NY United Teachers. Should I hire a lawyer? Private or union?

I was denied. Tier 3, totally disabled.

Hire a disability lawyer, but first get the papers from SSA fill them out and wait, they will deny you, that's when you see the attorney.

You can ask your union how involved they are willing to be, but they aren't disability lawyers.
