- They are gas giants
- Most of them have rings (yes uranus has rings)
- Most have more than one moon, some have a handful of moons
- Most are named after titans in greek mythology while the inner planets are just plain gods (Jupiter = Zeus... Titan of the sky, Neptune = Poseidon.. titan of the oceans, and Saturn was named for Cronus or Zeus' father was said to be the supreme god of the universe... Pluto was named for Hades, Titan of the underworld but we all know it is not a planet now)
- They are much further away from the sun
- Most have condensed liquid cores
