Mercy,Mercy Me by Marvin Gaye has some cool lyrics about pollution and the effects on the environment, but it's not really an environmental song.
Big Yellow Taxi by Melanie was an old song about the destruction of the environment.
I don't know if that's the kind of stuff you're looking for, but it's a couple of suggestions anyway.

It's not really a "cool" song, but it is dealing with the environment

"Sleeping In" by the Postal Service deals with global warming, in my opinion...
