I have a brother who is deaf, and most definitely NOT a computer user, but he does have a TTD.

Has anybody heard of software that lets a computer talk directly to to a TTD unit, Or an internet relay service?

You'll have better luck searching for the more commonly used "TTY" designation rather than the less common "TTD".

Lots to options to choose from...

He is eligible for LOTS of free communications equipment! My partner is deaf and has video phones. It is a video camera phone that connects to the TV. He can either call other video phone uses, or to talk with a hearing person, he will use a Video Relay Service. All of the calls made from this (even international) are FREE. Hearing people can also call the video phone through the Video Relay service.

Heres a link for the free phone:

Here is info about the different VRS services:

If your brother is deaf he is eligible for ALL SORTS of free services through the Americans with Disabilities Act. He can even pre-board planes. We do that all the time!

I don't have an answer to this question. but i was in a farce about this situation.

In this play, a man had to prevent me from finding out that the girl i was chatting with online was actually my sister from another marriage, so he says that she was blind and was using a speak recognition device to translate over the internet.
