There are ways to go around it, I have bought my house there under my sister's name and she is also living in it. My house is her house, its the whole family house when we all go home to Phil at various months of the year.

Only a Filipino citizen can own real estate property in the Philippines. You have two options: Like the others have said, dual citizenship for your wife... OR... form a corporation in the Philippines and be the president. It doesnt have to be something big, but you have to comply with the requirement that the incorporators must be dominantly Filipino citizens.
Hmm.. I think im making this more complicated.. so i'll shut up now... hehehe...

Probably not in this case. Foreigners can only inherit land via hereditary or intestate means (not by bequeathement in a will), and neither of these would be applicable to a son-in-law. Its possible that your wife may have a claim to the land even if she is not presently a RP citizen, but it would depend on the particular relations. You need to talk to a lawyer.

Go with the dual citizenship plan.
My asawa is still a Filipina, I am thinking it may be best to keep her status that way for a while.
The condo deal is also correct, but I don't see condos being the way to go in the PI just yet. There are also lease hold properties but those are not really good deals.

If your wife is a US citizen, then she is an American and not a Filipina. Foreigners cannot own land, as well as companies with less than 60% Filipino ownership.

I believe that dual citizenship for your wife is the way to. The property can then be in her name. I think that you can also apply for dual citizenship which should then enable you to also own property in the Phils.

No. They still have some tight restrictions on real estate ownership by foreign nationals. However, you can buy a condo. Your wife being Filipina doesn't help any if she is now a US citizen.

Have her apply for dual citizenship (really easy to do--took a week as $50 USD in San Francisco). Once she is a dual it takes care of any potential issues with foreign ownership.
