Actually is Jonathan Stuart Liebowitz and he calls himself Jon Stewart. Maybe he's just ashamed of his name, or maybe he thought no one would take him seriously if he stayed with it. Kinda like how John Cougar was actually John Mellencamp. Whatever the reason, he's just another Hollywood phony. I read his book and I thought it was juvenile.

He later dropped his last name, Leibowitz, and changed the spelling of his middle name from "Stuart" to "Stewart." While he often jokes this is because people had difficulty with the pronunciation of Leibowitz or it "sounded too Hollywood"[2] (a reference to Lenny Bruce's joke on the same theme), Stewart has implied that the name change was actually due to a strained relationship with his father, who left the family in 1971 and with whom Stewart no longer has any contact

First of all Jon Stewart has NEVER tried to pass himself off as anything other than Jewish. He changed his name like a lot of celebrities do for the same reason. Jon Stewart is easier to remember than Jon Lieberman.
I think you're an anti-semite who dislikes Jews because some pseudo-Christian hate-monger told you that it was justified, so long as you consider yourself a Christian.
Why don't you call Mel Gibson and see if he can drunk-drive you to a NAZI rally!

He takes cheap shots at everyone. Since he mentions his Jewish faith several times a week I never mistook him for a Scotsman, which is where I know the name Stewart from. He probably changed his name for the same reason most actors do, ease of spelling or it fits on the marquee.
How sinister!

I'm part Irish too but not offended by the name change.
Anyway Jon Stewart said he changed his name because Lieberman sounded too "Jewy"

Ever heard of something called a "stage name"?
I'm more worried about the pedophile priests, evangelicals and the like.
Come on- the guy has a TV show and he's a comedian. Don't like his stuff- write the network and complain about his anti-catholic remarks.
My faith is much stronger than any comedian or politician or nut-job comments.

Lieberman is pathetic. His pastime is to represent the pastimes of the yankee human beings and not in any respect merely the coverage marketplace that is so efficient in his state. He had extra effective pull himself jointly instantly. He does no longer should preserve his chairmanship.

Stewart is a Scottish surname. You have no complaint if you're Irish.
Entertainers have always changed their names. That's no big deal unless someone is looking to nitpick.

Why are you taking cheap shots at liberals?
If you disagree - don't watch it.
This question has nothing to do with politics & should be
in the religious or entertainment categories.
