It was one of the few books from high school that I remember liking a lot. My husband is teaching it to his 11th graders right now and they seem to be enjoying it. If you look into the history of why the book was written, I think you'll get a better appreciation for it. I'm sure you know some people who lived through McCarthyism--talk to them. You'll never fully understand the terror and the panic of the day, but it'll set up the story better in your mind to hear it from someone who lived through it.

I'm Doing that book as a book report in my Class. Its an alright book, not the kind I like in particular, but the story line kept me interested.

In it's historical context (McCarthyism) it's interesting..but the story isn't the really compelling.
