I bet you can now see that this was a mistake. Imagine how his wife feels, I bet she's broken hearted as well (if he told her). How would you feel if your husband was cheating on you?
To be blunt, you need some therapy to figure out why you are going after unavailable (married) men.
The relationship was doomed from the start, as you mentioned above. Grieve and then get on with it and find an unmarried guy that can fully be in the relationship and treat you as his number 1 girl.

Were you really happy for 8 years in your relationship? I feel he has kept you hanging and its very selfish of him to do so...You should pick your self up and look deep into the mirror and really ask your self what you want, what will make ÿou¨happy! Its never easy to get involved with a man who is married...especially when there are children involved. Don´t keep punishing your self. It took you 8 years to realize the truth. No matter how old your are, young or old, I feel there´s a life partner waiting out there for you! I am proof of one of them. I have been single for more then15 years after my divorce. During my single life, I was in and out of several serious relationships and there was a relationship where I too was involved with a married man. My suggestion is that if you are willing to cut your self short and always having to accept his excuses and to sacrifice your self then do it! If not, fold your towels and kiss him good bye and find your prince charming. I did... I found my life long waited partner and we are very happily married. Be hopeful and love your self. You deserve the best and never sell your self short. Life is too short to waste time and energy on something you know down deep in your heart that this relationship was doomed from the beginning. There is love waiting for you somewhere out there...just be patient and give your self another chance in finding the treasure of your life! Don´t cheat your self again because you don´t deserve it!
