Malaysia has successfully progressed from an agrarian-based economy to that largely based on "industrial" output - at one time it was the world's largest producer of computer chips - that distinction is no more with the emergence of China as an economic powerhouse.
It would be unrealistic and farfetch to claim that the country is "IT-smart " although the government would like to think so. The so-called MSC is city concentrated - KL the capital city and Klang Valley do enjoy a fair advantage (over the rest of the country) in terms of digital-age benefits - it stops there. (Singapore in view of its size, literacy level, IT-infrastructure can be considered an IT-smart city state).
Malaysia is only peeking into the cyber world, whether it can or not depends on many factors. For now, the manufacturing sector (largely low to medium with some high tech industries) continues to sputter with an ocasional sparkle now and then.

Like any other developing countries, Malaysia is moving towards digital era.. there is a cyber park in Putra Jaya. If you ever been to Kuala Lumpur, check out the airport and petronas twin tower... you will be impressed! Though moving forward, it is not discontinueing with its core industrial business. Malaysia is a country that is rich in natural resources, palm trees, rubber trees, petroleum, rich in agriculture..

malaysia was industrial, now taking a giant leap backward back to the era of our second prime minister.
but according to juan m, malaya still monkeys lives in jungles better asking somwear other places
