Celebrity Big Brother: What now for C4? And Jade?

So what should the Channel 4 bosses do today? And what about the rest of us? Should we forgive, forget and move on? Or make sure that Jade Goody never works again?

The controversy that has been raised by Big Brother also asks a number of questions about the show itself.

Big Brother is, primarily, a social experiment, analysing the actions and words of those who choose to go inside that house. While I am not defending Channel 4, they cannot be held responsible for an individuals actions. The public support for Shilpa has proven that Britain is not the racist state some claim it to be, and also shows that the term 'celebrity' really means someone who believes they are better than anyone else, and thus deserves to be famous.

But back to Channel 4 / Endemol. While they cannot be held accountable for Jade Goody's blatantly racist remarks, there has to be questions raised about them using it as a media tool to promote interest in their own show, and thus boost ratings and profits. They can hide behind the fact that a slice of these profits will eventually go to charity, but at the end of the day, all the excuses in the world will not make up for the fact that the decisions made lacked any common sense or indeed a sense of dignity.

As it stands now the program should be scraped, and all profits given to charity. There is not one person who does not believe Goody was not coached beforehand, or that the others still inside have suddenly had a change of heart without being given outside information. This is a sham. There is also the rather murky waters that Goody shares an agent (John Noel Management) with hosts Davina McCall, Russell Brand and Dermot O'Leary. It is not so much conspiracy theory as common sense that these people would protect one another (and their agents).

Channel 4 should concentrate on making quality programs (which they do remarkably well), instead of trying to defend their rather deflated cash cow.

As an aside, this debacle also shows the lack of power Ofcom has over the broadcasters. They should have had the power to pull it from the air, rather than shout about it from afar.

Im not really sure whats on the cards for C4 but as for Jade well shes well and truly over shes giving out interviews which she has been asked "do u regret doing big brother now" and shes says absolutly not because at least I have come out of there having learned something. Jade will have to go no doubts about that it will be years before anyone will want to anything to do with her and she will try all the reality shows on the planet to get back in the public eye but i feel her time is up.
BB should be taken back to basic bring back the chickens, take away the girls suitcase of make up and stop the stupid other house type thing and seperate where they can see like the prison task do a holiday camp with reps sort of thing and bring back the fun they may just save it if they go back to original format.
Also ditch the celebrity big brother who wants to see over inflated egos on tv just to claw a few quid and raise profile they have dropped off our radar for a reason!

Channel 4 and more specifically Endemol are one thing that is helping the uk become obssesed with this tabloid culture. People like Jade Goody should remain penniless. It hardly inspires girls in school to work hard does it. And that danielle is an example of a seriously bad role model. The kind of girl that the uk seems to idolise is blonde, stupid, scouse model who shags footballers and wants to be a tv presenter. I wish people would realise, if we want to watch "reality" television then we must accept there is going to be "reality" in it!!! Yes, Jade may well have been racist/bitchy.
