A few days ago I was doing something and received an alert "do you want to allow this program to access the internet?" I thought it was a virus so I set it to "always block". Now, I can no longer access the internet without disabling norton antivirus internet security first.

Any idea how to reverse this & get internet access with the norton protection again?

I had problems with dialers, spyware & all that **** before so I don't want to go online wthout a good antivirus program.

hi, it's alright, it's not terminal. What you need to do is go to your Norton Internet Security main page, do this by right klicking on the icon at the bottom right of your computer, then left click on open Norton Internet Security, that will give you your main page. Then click on the Anti-virus tab, ok so far? There are two ways to go from here, you can either click on a more info button, which will take you to the help application, or you can click on reports and try and do it from there. Probably your best bet would be to go to the help application because it's nice and easy to understand. Don't worry, you'll be fine, so will your computer. I've always had Norton and I find it real easy to live and work with. If your still having problems after that, contact the Help Line. Happy Surfing.

Norton Preventing Internet Access

It's not the antivirus, its the firewall. You need to change the settings of the firewall. Disabling it usually still blocks the internet. If you cannot get it to work properly, contact Norton, they can show you how to "fix" it. And don't get a "cheap" free antivirus, not even close as good as Norton (or any other you pay for).

I can't answer your problem but I know some really good free things such as: COMODO firewall, ive had alot of the big money ones like Bullguard and Norton, but this free one seems to work the best.

Another good Anti Virus is AVG, with a Combination of AVG/COMODO your on lockdown without it blocking your internet or slowing down your computer like Norton ETC...

Norton is crap. It gives such a lot of trouble. Get rid of it! there are plenty of good, free softwares out there...get them before you get rid of Norton (if you can).
You need a good antivirus , plus a firewall and a spyware software and you don't need to pay for it. phy333 has given you the links!

I've had a similar problem. My Norton anti virus is up for renewal now but I won't be renewing it.

Disconnect Norton's firewall entirely then install windows own firewall.

When it says IEEXPLORE.EXE does that sound like a virus to you.

To alter these settings, go into the NAV firewall options, and then create a custom firewall option for IE, (since you blocked it, it should be on the list), change the option to ALLOW ALWAYS, for added security, activate "stealth hidden ports".
