same theme, never the same details (that's why i never realized until now i was having a recurrent dream, been having one for maybe 15 years).

night time, me inside my own home, but feeling trapped, scared and anxious, wanting to find an escape exit, usually alone, sometimes with someone i can't remember but who feels vaguely familiar, maybe a family member or friend. i sometimes go down the stairs, sometimes climb out the window to the roof and then manage to escape the house, i never see who i'm escaping from (sometimes intruders, sometimes evil spirits, once an alien monster, never the same). then there is always the feeling of being chased or hunted, like someone coming after me, even when i've managed to get away, i don't feel safe. then i wake up.

Dreaming about monsters and demons is very common. They may represent negative forces inside of yourself and in your life. Most of the monsters are representing your own negative characteristics and tendencies. The monster in your dreams could be your fear, bad temper, negativity, smoking habit, or anything else that is hurtful and needs to be changed. The way that you deal with the monster in your dream is generally symbolic of the way you are dealing with the corresponding negativity in your daily life. If you wake up from this dream and are very frightened, just remember that your mind created those images and that their purpose is to teach you something about yourself.

Your dream is about life. You wish to escape all of the problems and worries that each day presents. Needless to say, there is a tremendous amount of stress and negativity in the world in which we live today. It's hard to feel safe anymore and happiness appears to be but a mere illusion. You just want to break free from everything for a while and escape. This is what I think your dream is about.

Obviously You were a twin at conception. later during gestation you absorbed your twin.
You have repressed memories of this and feel guilty about absorbing your twin.
You seek to escape the womb where your "Crime" was commited.

Often we remember things that happened so long ago that they manifest themselves in our dreams. In your case it happened before birth and you still feel trapped in the womb

Many people believe that most pregnancies start off with the egg splitting into 2 embryos but usually 1 absorbs the other.

There have been many cases where twins or quads are seen during an ultrasound but later one of the multiples is absorbed by the sibling.

Recurring dreams usually mean that there is an unresolved issue or issues in your life. Symbols of homes in a dream usually represent a persons body. Sounds like you are feeling trapped in a situation, could have been going on for years??? Not sure only you can understand :)

dark...inside...trapped, scared...seeking escape...alone/other aspect of self...escape from fear symbol...stalked. So you escaped the house and yet not the feelings the house elicited...in daily life you might suffer from panic attacks, which is "fear of fear". In your life you escaped something and yet fear its recurrence. Perhaps a simple birth trauma dream. "I don't feel safe" is something to consider. The dream could be the key to understanding the source of your daily anxiety (I assume you are an anxious person).

I don't know a lot about dream interpretations but normally the interpretation is what YOU think it is. Is there something in your life that is overwhelming you or someone in your life that is not good for you? There are some dream dictionaries that could be helpful in helping you focus your search. Check your local library.
It seems to me if you really thought about what it is in your life that is not right and dealt with it you would stop having this dream.
Good luck figuring this out!

Your dream could be revealing someone you don't trust or you are afraid inwardly and this dream being repeated so often makes you feel unsafe.
