Friendship is when you care about someone and you want the best for them, Love is when that feeling can be at your own expense. You would bring harm upon yourself to make sure that this other person benefits.
What others are describing as the wow factor is just infatuation, love is far more earnest than that, Love is not some happy, click your heels sensation, love is a serious commitment.

Definition of Love?
Wow, you don't go for the easy questions do you!
All I can do is define my love for my wife and my children.
Love is many things to many people. Love can be a fire in their heart, Ice in their veins and a tempest within their Soul!
That's my poetic nature rearing it's ugly head!
To me though, Love is laying your life down to save the person you love.
My Son needed a kidney otherwise he would have died - I had a spare :~} so he has that one.
My wife has a very rare Blood group and desperately needed a transfusion after almost dying following the birth of our twin daughters - my son has the same type, so 2 weeks after the transplant operation he gave 4 pints over the course of 2 days and saved my wife. He gave too much but told the doctors a few fibs to make sure they took it anyway. He almost died to keep her alive.
Our Children are our lives!
My wife is my Friend, my Lover, my Soul-Mate and my love.
Do you REALLY Love someone?
Would you Die for them?
Would you sell your soul for them?
I would.
Love is....... being willing to do ANYTHING for the object of that Love. By anything, I MEAN ANYTHING!
:~}
:~}
:~}
such a deep question gets a 3 smiley rating!

Yes of course, Everyone can define love in their own words. They just wont be the same words everyone else uses. My words would include submission, loyalty,my master.

fabulous,a journey that most of us go on(or are on)there are so many aspects that you could write a book about it.but to define it is simply to say you need to have experienced it then you dont need words~it it a strong emotion,when you are in love with another person so much it feels that your heart will burst,with joy .iwould say love (not being in love) helps make this world a better place!

Better the words of GOD. Most have described emotions and self love which we all enjoy 'til it wears off. But that's not love; real love is unconditional. Love is a commitment.Do you think JESUS felt like going to the cross. Not to mention what HE went thru. But HE did it for love of us. Again 1st CORINTHIANS, chapter 13.

love isn't defineable. it takes you on a rollercoaster and the bravest survive. but basically, most people want it because it's the closest thing we have to magic, just that feeling.
