This is Lieber's cry for attention. She should go far away. It seems that is the only way she will get any attention as a legislator.
What they did not say on the news, is that this proposed bill is based on the ones in the European Union and in Canada that have already adopted them to fit in with a unified law system. Humpty Dumpty, I do not wish to have more government intrusion in my life and see the Parental Rights of Parents taken away, making children Property of the State.
There would be a $1,000.00 fine and imprisonment. Swarzenegger is behind the bill too, claiming he never spanked his. He probably never took care of them either and turned them over to a Nanny! There is a difference between abuse and discipline!

with all these laws children think they have the upper hand by saying they will call the cops if one spanks them, nowonder their are so many bad *** kids roaming the streets. I spanked my kids while they were growing up and 3 served in the military and 1 is in college.

I would hate to live in any country that tells me how to raise my child, however California is trying to pass that very issue. They would like to make it illegal to spank your child. It's a shame that Big Brother wants to decide our fate.

NO. Parents who don't believe in spanking their children always wonder why their children are taking drugs or commiting crimes. Parents should be able to discipline their children. When you spank the child they understand that they did something bad. If there's no consequence them the child will keep repeating it. They will grow up doing drugs because the parents won't be able to control their child.

I think spanking should be required when dealing with one's spouse. When she/he is bad they should be given a good spanking along with a stern talking to. Ummm you weren't asking about kids were you?????

No it should not be. I spank my children when it is appropriate but it dose no good. They are right back doing it again five min. later. What is the magic discipline method ? Let me know if youi find out.

i watched that show NANNY[one of those reality shows]; the other night and i'll tell you i would SPANK the PARENTS. Unless the show is a joke;the people on it with the uncontrollable kids should not have had kids in the 1st place!Kids need some kind of discipline when their YOUNG.

No, but spanking is dangerous because it teaches kids to hit in order to achive their goals.
