well one year is late but acceptable. you would get worried at 18 months. If your daughter starts walking at 13 months then would you be worried? development is a spectrum, but 18 months is when I would be worried.
There is an article in the BMJ about evidence based guidelines for developmental delay. Type the keyword developmental delay into for example, www.pubmed.gov, and you will come up with all the papers on this topic.

I wouldn't worry so much about the walking, but the not crawling or being able to stand alone is a concern. It is possible that there is nothing wrong and she is just a late bloomer, but normally most kids would be crawling by now. As the mom of a special needs child, I understand your fear. My son is almost 3, and he was diagnosed with Autism at 17 months. My son can't speak or communicate, and I constantly worry that he never will. I hope everything works out for you and your daughter. Good luck to you both.

My 3rd daughter was like that, though she did do the butt-shuffle. She refused to put any weight on her feet also. The pediatrician recommended that I have her tested through the local school district. ALL kids are eligible and must be tested if you request it, no matter their age. You start by calling the local elementary school and telling them you want to have your baby tested, can they give you the phone number of how to get started. It may take 3 months from the first phone call till the first P.T. session, so call TOMORROW. It helped my baby get on her feet.

like another poster said you have to consider whether she is meeting other major mile stones. according to baby 411, and what to expect books, crawling may be bypassed altogether if she had not spent a lot of time when younger on her tummy. her being able to sit unassisted is a more important milestone because without it, she'd be unable to do a number of things. some children are late starters, but it doesn't mean anything is wrong with them. if she is gaining weight satisfactorily, and is appearing to be a healthy child then i would not worry. check with your doctor to be sure. usually children who have missed milestones due to problems go hand in hand with failure to thrive.

It could just be that she's a late developer. It happens. Don't worry too much. Let the doctor's take care of it. When my brother was a baby, he was kinda like that. But he's a normal person.

You don't mention if your daughter is a big girl or not. Sometimes if they are larger children, they are a little late to crawl/walk. I hope she is okay and is up and running around before long.

Our daughter did not crawl until she was 13 months old - she is now nearly seventeen months old and is still crawling - she is still not interested in pulling herself up onto things, but is pulling herself up onto her knees. Our paediactrician - on seeing her at twleve months said that their is a slight delay in her development but said that there is such a broad range in development between ten months and eighteen months he was not overly concerned - although he reccomended following up with us at eighteen months.
