Youth Part-Time Jobs? This makes no sense!!?

Okay, I'm 14 and I live in Ontario. I was told by the Employment Standards Of Ontario that at the age 14 you are eligible to work at arenas, waitressing, filing at offices and in retail. The problem is that i've called tons of restaurants and looked at retail places and i've tried to get a hold of the arenas and etc.. but every place seems to have an age 15 policy. This doesn't make sense! Why would the Employents Standards say age 14 if everywhere its age 15?!!?

The place I work at we want the employee to be 16. It has something to do with parental involvement. Employment Standards ay be 14 but the individual employers are still allowed to make their own policies regarding age and appearance

because thats just the standard. that means that they can't hire anyone under the age of 14. the employer can set the bar at any age they want. good luck job hunting!
