I am doing a school project in which I plan to study things about animals like hamsters, gerbils, or mice. Which will be the easiest to work with. Most likely I will be working with mazes.

Go with the Hamster.

Mice are nice, but they are so small and fragile. Hamsters seem to be more even tempered than mice IMHO.

Hamsters are only awake during the night, and are sleepy, slow and sometimes cranky if woken during the day. They're adorable, but not really good for mazes. Gerbils are super-fast little critters which bite. Obviously all rodents bite, but when a gerbil bites it will literally dangle from your finger. I loved my two, but Sandy had some nippers on her! You also have to be careful with them because if you grab them by the ends of their tails, the tail will come off. As my sister learned when handling Sooty for the first time. Mice are probably the best option. They're also quite fast, but are the best overall. They're curious and intelligent. They can be picked up by the tail, but you must grab the base of the tail and not the tip. If you need any more info on rodents, mail me at tkepqueenemily@yahoo.co.uk. I've owned a lot of rodents, and I'm pretty knowledeable.

mice are far the smartest they can work with mazes better than hamsters or gerbils, but mice are not that easy to work with.on the other hand hamsters are very easy to work with(depends if its a mean one lol).gerbils are very hyper and can be hard to work with. so i suggest that you get a mice they're smarter and it'll be fun trying to make challenges and obstacles for the mice.

Go with a rat, they are very smart, you can get them at most any pet store that carries hamsters, gerbils, and mice. And they are larger which may make handling easier. They are also the most tame, in my experience.

I have found that mice seem to be more personable than hampsters and are quick to perform tasks for a bit of food. I have no Gerbil experience.

If you were dealing with a maze I would say a mouse. Because mouses are actually very smart creatures who are good at working through mazes.

i will say a mouse because hamsters will try to escape and not focus on the maze

Mice are smart and far cheaper than the other two.
