Find a spider that's relatively cute--that is, not big and hairy! Maybe one of those cute little green ones--something very small. Catch him, put him in a jar and name him Sydney. Watch over him, feed him flies or whatever he eats, watch him spin a web. And talk to him a bit each day. Eventually you'll befriend him and you won't feel as afraid of him. Once Sydney dies or is set free, go find a bigger spider. Hopefully your friendship with Sydney will have prepared you to encounter Rusty, a spider of deceiving scariness, who is really very friendly. Once you get used to Rusty, keep working your way up until you can visit with the tarantulas at the pet store. This does not mean you have to bring one of those home, but you have conquered your fear if you can at least put your face up to the cage without having a panic attack. Hope this helps!!

The most accepted form of treatment is aversion or behaviour treatment. These tend to involve a mixture of education and experience, most arachnobobes (in fact most people) have little real knowledge of spiders, learning allows the sufferer to use their own mind to counteract the rising emotions. Familiarisation or experience has a similar effect, giving people the opportunity to gain perceptual evidence of spiders as being basically harmless, to desensitise them. Although the details of all treatments depend on the therapist as well as on the age and experience of the sufferer a large degree of moral support is essential.
Spiders are really fascinating and often attractive animals and if you can learn to share your world with them in peace you will have added a little to your enjoyment of life. Good luck.

Oh man, arachnophobia is one of the hardest to cure.
Just try and relax, the old "theyre as scared of you as you are of them" is actually very true.
They're bugs, thats all, no matter how hideous they may seem, just know that they arent there and if they are there snothing to worry about.

I have it too, so I can't really help much, but what I try to do is not look for them. If you're looking around every nook and cranny, you will probably find one, but if you don't look for it, you can't see it, which is the same thing as it not being there. Also, their 1,000 times more scared of you than you are scared of them.

buy a lot of spider traps!!!!! Don't kid yourself. If you are half as scared by spiders as I am you will invest in some spider traps and bug sprays so you can rest at night!

find the smallest spider you can and try and work up the courage to let it walk on your hand when you get used to it try and find a bigger one and do the same, i know it sounds stupid but honestly it works! just make sure you know what kind of spider it is and dont go too big, theres brave and then theres reckless!
