because of a virus that infected cats to be a host it was a special virus that seamed like a parasite and they sent them into europe to take out the greek but they hadnt thought of people knowing the virus if a man hadnt thought of it being a virus the parasite or virus would have been something similar to the plague and killed millions if not thousands.

The movement of the cat out of Egypt and into Europe and Asia began during the first millennium BC. Written records show that the Romans were using cats to control rats and mice.

The "sneaking" applied to how hard it was to get the cats out of Egypt.

What city do you reside in the place there are no longer any signed apartment agreements or leases on apartments? remarkable now your rabbits and ferret are in possibility, and so are you on account which you're able to be evicted on short be conscious because of the fact the owner would not look to appreciate the thank you to regulate a apartment development professionally and is in possibility of do virtually something to kick you out as quickly as your pets have been got here upon. you survive skinny ice. Your landlord has keys and might come and go at will if he desires to secret agent on you, and if a neighbor suspects you have pets (like they see you wearing bags of rabbit/ferret nutrition/bedding into your apt) and tells the owner why can they have pets and that i won't be able to) then you definately've set your self as much as be evicted and your pets will little question finally end up at animal administration. in the event that they are not accompanied in some weeks, they are going to be killed because of the fact city shelters have not got area or funds to run a lodge for homeless pets. in case you have been to prepare to undertake a cat from me, i could call your landlord to envision which you're allowed to have a cat on your condominium. in case you sneak a cat into your condominium you're VERY IRRESPONSIBLE.

It's not so much that they were sneaking cats into Europe, more like they were sneaking cats out of Egypt.

See first site. Excerpt from Encarta:

“A History and Legend

Cats were highly valued in Egypt because of their ability to keep down the rodent population in Egypt’s economically important grain fields along the Nile. Egyptian cats were also used for sport by their owners. Attached to leads, these animals hunted birds for the family table; a boomerang flung by the master brought the birds down and the cats, off the lead, would retrieve them. Because they were economically useful and were believed to ensure many children for a family, cats were so revered that they were sometimes mummified and buried either with their owners or in specially designated cemeteries. The Egyptian cat goddess Bast, or Bastet, depicted as having the body of a woman and the head of a cat, was the goddess of love and fertility as well.

Despite Egyptian laws that forbade the removal of the sacred cats, Phoenician sailors smuggled them out of the country. Cats were traded along with other treasures from the Middle East and in antiquity could be found throughout the Mediterranean area. Archaeological evidence indicates that the Romans were the first to take cats to the British Isles.”

See second site, paraphrased from Wikipedia:

But the Egyptians might not have been the first to domesticate cats. Cyprus may have domesticated, or at least tamed cats by 7500 B.C. There are statues from Anatolia dated form 6000 B.C. that depicted women playing with domesticated cats. Whereas, in Egypt, the earliest mention of domesticating cats comes around 4000 B.C.

Cyprus is in Europe, so if they actually did domesticate the cat, and not just tame them, then Cyprus is the origin of the domestic cat in Europe.

Anatolia is a peninsula of Western Asia which forms the greater part of the Asian portion of Turkey, as opposed to the European portion. It is often called by the name of Asia Minor. It is also considered part of the Near East. This is near enough to Europe that, having 2000 years to work with, the cats could have been brought into Europe from Anatolia before the Romans brought in the Egyptian cats.

The Romans were not only one group bringing cats into EUPOPE. The domesticated cat was traded all around the Mediterranean. What they did do was introduce the domesticated cat into BRITIAN.

I think I got off the subject here. What was the original question? Oh, yeah. Why did they do it? Cats were employed to keep rats and mice away from grain stores in order to lessen losses of precious food and to keep droppings from ruining it. And as I stated at the start of this essay, it's not so much that the Romans were sneaking cats into Europe, it’s more that they were sneaking cats out of Egypt.

Are we overlooking the fact that Rome is in Italy and Italy is part of Europe?

Not to mention at that time Europe didn't exist. It was the Roman Empire?
