need 12 Amps @110-120 v. Others say 700watts will only require a pull of~5.9 amps.
I ntended to plug the new unit into my currene outlet, which is rated @ 15amps.
Depending on the real amp use, i'll be able to use the current outlet, or else I'll need to install a dedicated line.
If the latter, what amp line do I need?Much thanks

You will need more than ~5.9amps, because power suppliers are not 100% efficient. Meaning, to produce 700W they have to pull more than 700W of energy. Depending on the efficiency, they could need to pull up to 1000W. But even then you would not need more than 9 amps, so you should not have a problem.

Your supply will use 5.8-6 amps from the line, you don't need a dedicated outlet. Manufacturers hype the output ratings of their stuff anyway, and I doubt that the supply will ever even need to deliver 700W.

I don't think you have a problem. I haven't met anyone yet having to put in new outlets for their computer. I don't think we're quite there yet.

Probably would be a good idea to get a UPS (battery backup) so that it keeps the flow of electricity even - also if your power goes out, your computer stays on for 15 minutes or so - so you can finish up and shut down the proper way.

Despite any variations in wattage, power supplies all plug into standard power outlets that everyone has in their house. Ask yourself, how many power supply units is a manufacturer likely to see if they said "Oh, by the way, you can't actually plug that into a wall socket in your house, you'll need some crazy special power supply for it?" How many people would buy the things if that was the case?

I agree with an amperage of 5.9Amp and plugging your PC to a 15A outlet is safe.
