When I have my friends in class with me, I feel comfortable. But I feel uncomfortable when I don't have my friends in the class. Is this abnormal? How should I stop this?

Well its not abnormal,,,its just that u r more dependent on your friends than on your own self,,,,,,,just have confidence on your self,,,and try to face everything independently and not by always taking help from your friends,,,

Perhaps you just feel uncomfortable around people you don't know very well. It's not abnormal but in this big world you're bound to be in a situation like this numerous times. Your friends can't always be with you. Best advise I can give is to try & think of something pleasant for a mind distraction & then concentrate on the subject of the class your in. If you try not to focus on being uncomfortable so much, the feeling should pass. And who know there just may be another person in the class who you can get to know with just a few words of kindness. Remember things are never as bad as they seem.

As long as you know what is going on in class you should feel comfortable. I had college courses where I had no friends and no clue. Now that is uncomfortable. It's not abnormal to be in a room full of people you don,t know and feel uncomfortable. Just pay more attention or doodle more. Draw yourself some friends.

This is normal, classes without friends make you doubt your own position in society, and make it hard to relax.

This is completely normal, the only thing you can do to stop it is not think about it.

I'm just the same and I'm 26. I think most people feel more comfortable around their friends as it makes them they feel more protected.

make friends in the classes that u dont have them.. i wasnt ever in a "clique" in school.. I made friends with everyone.. you'd be surprized on how many people you like that you thought were "different"... give it a try... your friends don't have to know! ... change is always good..!

Sounds like you could be a co-dependent! You are there to concentrate on your school work! You can do that without your friends!

yeah, totally abnormal. most of us are overwhelmingly confident when we are in a room full of strangers. even more so if they are hostile.
