So yeah i found out the other day that a friend of mine used to cut. she hasnt for almost a year now but shes now told me that shes tempted to alot. I'm concerned for her and maybe its just me but isnt the fact that temptation is still there still a sorta bad thing? i dunno i guess does anyone have some advice on what i can do to calm myself/get her help/or just some plain advice...

i was a cutter for 3 years....and probably the worst of the worst too. honestly, shes never going to get over it or forget it so dont make her think she has to or anything like that. she's dealing with right? so just be there for her....if you start to see signs that shes cutting again (she'll wear long sleeves when its warm out, wear a lot of bracelets, etc.) or getting depressed ask her about it.....and maybe call someone for help if you think its getting really bad. it just sounds like she's doing ok right now and just needs as much support as possible.

cutting is a serious thing, and something u wont understand unless you're in that state of mind that makes you cut. i dont cut, i know people who have done it and i've attempted but haven't. the best thing you can do is try to talk to that friend. give them someone they can rely on. most people who cut just want someone to talk to, who cares, and can help them cope.

Its an awful coping mechanism in my opinion.

My ex girlfriend used to do it. She admitted to doing it and when i asked her why she told me it was because it got her mind off of other things (like our fights).

Its very unhealthy and people should find other ways to cope with their feelings.
