Does your Saturn Return really have a big impact on your life? I am 28 and have really changed just recently.?

I am not into horoscopes etc but my friend told me about the period of Saturn Returns and I have read about it and it was as if the website found was written about me, I believe it happens between 28 and 30 and then again in your late 50's. I have completely changed as a person and have made dramatic changes in my life, i really don't reconise myself, has anybody else gone through something similar or is it a load of old rubbish?

Yes, I went through a major change around that time too. Another interesting note that happens astrologically around the same time is the Progressed New Moon Return; the moon returns to its natal position in your progressed chart. I read somewhere (wish I could remember where) that its also called the time of entering true adulthood because now your Moon (progressed) has traveled through all the signs and you've had so many experiences. So after your New Moon return - its like you start over again. I've also noticed in Saturn returns specifically that how "bad" it is often depends on how much (if at all) Saturn retrogrades around that point. And of course, how your natal Saturn is influenced in your own chart and if you've come around to learning some of the lessons of Saturn.

Saturn, the grim reaper, rules the responsibilities, restrictions and limitations we are apt to encounter, and the lessons we must learn in life. He does not deny or diminish imagination, inspiration, spirituality, or good fortune, but he does demand that these things be given structure and meaning.

The karmic lessons we have come to experience and overcome in this lifetime are expressed by Saturn, the karmic initiator of the zodiac. This signifies a time of transition, from one life-phase to the next. The first Saturn return (around age 28-30) marks the transition from the Phase of Youth to the Phase of Maturity; the second from the Phase of Maturity to the Phase of Wisdom. The last one, if reached, seems usually to mark the transition either to the next world or else back to a second childhood!

As the Saturn return approaches, often our lives seem to speed up, as if hurrying to clear out old baggage from the past, to lighten the load for the next stage. I remember my 28th birthday quite clearly. I cried all the way home because I couldn't stop thinking that I was nearly 30 and had nothing to show for my life. So I went back to school, changed jobs (several times) until I found the niche that was right for me.

it is an incredibly powerful time. It is officially the time you 'grow up'. Once through the Saturn return, nothing is the same. It is an initiation into life. Mind you after that you have pluto square pluto which I found much worse :)
