Look up a number of liberal and conservative politicians, and see where they stand on the issues. The ones that you agree with most will give you an indication. Personally, I don't like to be pidgeonholed. I won't join a party, and I vote for the person who I believe will do the right thing. Partisan politics is a big part of the problem.

In general, if you believe that the government should have more control of the lives of individuals, and that it should be a larger government, you're a liberal. If you believe in a smaller government, more individual rights, then you're a conservitive.
That said, "republican" and "democrat" mean different things then they used to.
Republicans are strerotyped as someone who is generally very christian, very consertive in dress and manner, strict and disapproving of anything that goes agianst christianity. (anti gay marriage, anti abortion, but for the bill of rights)
Democrats are sterotyped as people who want less indivdual freedom, generally for 'our own good'. More government control in daily life- unified health care, more welfare and government programs, including things like affirmitive action and an absud amount of 'protection' for minorites.. They tend to be pro-choice and pro gay marriage.
Most young people are hesitant to declare a side, cause either way, you look crazy!

Yes, a simple quiz:
If you work, or plan to work, for a living----you are a Republican.
If you don't work just because you don't want to-----you are a Democrat.
If you love freedom----you are a conservative.
If you want to live under socialism or communism-----you are a liberal.
