I'm not sure if you guys and gals know this.. but why are some diseases only affect Jewish people? Isn't being Jewish only a religion? Why is it that some diseases affect Jews? Why don't the diseases affect other ethnicities and races?
Please tell me, sorry if I offended you guys, I don't mean to be racist.

Tay sachs is probably what you're referring to. And he is NOT being racist....why do people always have to look for that where it obviously doesn't exist. There are some diseases that affect some ethnic groups and not others. For instance, sickle cell anemia...Blacks only. And that is why there is a website for jewish genetics. Not racist, just a fact.
Blazin, you are absolutely wrong: One in every 3,300 white babies is born with cystic fibrosis, but only one in every 15,300 black babies is born with the disease.

I am not Jewish but I can tell you that the diseases that you refer to do not affect all Jewish people. They affect people who's ancestors came from certain small groups in Europe.
In times gone by, people living in these groups did not marry into the population at large and as a result some possible genetic diseases remained concentrated in the local Jewish community.

It's not the religion but your family's background that makes you susceptible to certain diseases. Many Jews descended from a group of people in the Mediterranean. Tay-sachs is one genetic disorder generally understood to only affect people of Jewish descent.
People who convert to Judaism obviously have nothing to worry about if they are not from this bloodline.

a long time ago before the time of jews there were two types of people, most farmed land then made sure it could grow back thinking of the futere but there were others called nomads who just farmed the land till it couldnt replenish and stripped everything of its goodness till it turned into deserts, then everyone else cast them out and tried to get rid of them untill palistine forgot why they had been cast out and let them stay in a setlement. and now those nomads are trying to kill the hand that saved them and take over the rest of the world as well to farm it to extinction, only this time they will succeed as they have become to powerfull but the deseases are the fighting back of the loosing battle from the god within. i hope this helps its all very true but as the people who its written about are now in charge its not mainstream literiture.

Hmm.. all I know is there are some certain metabolic disorders that are more dominant in white people than in other races...

By the way, I know that Jews, generally speaking, do not develop Alzheimer's! :)
By the way, cystic fibrosis affects only white people! but no body ever says anything about it now do they?
