To be honest they are few and far between with the new technologies that hospitals are using now. My mother was a medical transcriptionist and worked from home, until the family practice that she worked for changed to voice recognition. She hasn't been able to keep a job since then and that was two years ago. Every company she works will will boot her out for new technology within a couple months.
try looking at small doctor owned family practices. They tend to run very cheap and aren't willing to pay for the new technology.

If you are willing to veer slightly off the path of medical transcription, I work from home with a company that manufactures products that we’re already buying elsewhere, but they are better, safer & healthier. We just help set up customer accounts and the company pays us to do so. We set our own hours and work as little or as long as we want. It is a wonderful opportunity and has really benefited our family. You are welcome to email me for more information.

I work from home as an MT and I am very happy with my company. Do you have any training or experience? You can e-mail me through my profile if you want more info on the company, etc.
Mama Cath/anyone else looking for an MT company, feel free to email me through my profile. I really do just work for them and I'm happy. And it took me a long time to get a secure job, so I feel for you! No scam, just info. Do with it what you want.

Unfortunately, many medical transcriptionists are experiencing this. You should network with other MTs and get recommendations from them. Generally, only the larger companies provide computers, but MedQuist isn't the only company that does it.

Check with your local medical offices. Write up a letter describing your services and mail them out or call and ask if they need help.

check with your local health care facilities, like the hospitals and surgical centers. most doctors offices do their own as with small practices. the larger the facility the better your chances will be and try local urgent care centers and trauma centers
