I don't want to use a chainsaw as they are too noisy and have bad associations with horror films. I wondered how easy to use the old fashioned kind is that you see lumberjacks use...

i guess it would depend on what you're trying to cut down. i don't think it is a good idea to use a manual saw to try and cut down a tree (unless it is very small). basically with a two man saw, the operators should only be pulling all the time. if you try and push the saw while the other guy is pulling, it's liable to get the saw bent. the saw also has a tendency to get stuck in the kerf, especially if you're sawing gummy trees, like pine. two man saws are hard to find anyways.

Anyone who ever had to use a two-man saw would swear that you were crazy for not using a chainsaw. You can surely find one on a google search but most of the ones I have seen and the ones that I have are retired. Good luck with your quest!

I have used many years ago a two-man saw. All I can remember is that you pull it through the tree. When it's through, the other guy has to pull it. No one pushes on this operation.

I urge you to get the ear protection muffs and go with the chain saw. Are you really ready to cut a treet down and then go about cuting the tree into logs with a two-man? Is this some sort of body-building exercise?

It's not easy but it is good for the arms and shoulders!

Today they are quite specialised, try a Google search. They are still used in the timber industry competions, so Canada might be where an Ebay search would take you.

I never seen one being sold - let alone being used. I was in the construction industry (woodworking) for a long time
