As usual yozora gets my thumbs up.
"keitai" in Japan means something that is portable, something you can carry around.
They usually write it in katakana.
so yeah the litteral translation in English is a 'mobile phone'
but they call it a keitai denwa.
everyone just says 'keitai'
I still do sometimes! lol :D

And if you're from the US and live in Japan you one day realize that you are saying to your english speaking native buddies phrases like "Call me on my keitai" or "Dude my keitai only shows 1 bar in here!" or "I just toileted my keitai".
