In debt, the "b" is silent. However, what might be confusing you is the word debit (like a debit card). In this word, the "b" is spoken.

Debt Pronunciation

The word "debt" was in Middle English and was usually spelt "det " or "dette" from the Old French "dette". Originally it came from the Latin "debita" which is from the Latin verb "debere" - to owe.

Interesting things then happened to the word. In French, the "b" that was in the Latin word reappeared in the 13th century and "debte" was the common form. This spelling moved to England as "debt" in the sixteenth century but the Middle English pronunciation "det" remained.

While the word has undergone many changes, the "b" that was in the original Latin has not been pronounced in English for a thousand years.

when you pronounce debt the letter b is silent and so is the e so when you say it it should sound like dt (d-et) it's like you are saying bet but you change the b to a d it's really weird but if you don't get you could try and make up a your own language with a code or anything you like me and my sister do it but if you think that's not for your age and you could make up a different thing.

The 'b' is "silent" in this word. The word "debit," which you may have heard, is a bit different.
