When my sister was dating her ex-boyfriend, she would sometimes leave things at his house and my mother would say that when you leave things places, it means you like being there. Is there any psychological truth to that in all aspects or is it just something that sounds nice?

Our personal things contain our personal energy and it makes us feel comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings; also, it calms us and soothes--that's why the babies sleep better with their favorite toy or a blanket. That is why we have a favored seat, bed, shoes, and so on. Your mother was right and it is a scientifically proven fact. Thank you for asking such a good question.

I don't think it has much truth to it. If something is left there on purpose, then I'd say it's just a reason to go back. I on the other hand forget stuff anywhere and everywhere. If I put something down and get into a good conversation, I leave things all over the place, 'cause I was side tracked.

I'm pretty sure it's just something that sounds nice.

I think it has nothing to do with old wives tales, instead I think it has to do with a little insecurity on your sisters part and that she has a bulit in excuse to pop back over whenever she wants to retrive whatever item she left there, and see whatever or maybe even whomever he's doing!!

Well if she is over there enough to leave things then she must like being there.

Just me--I think it just sounds nice. But--if it was someplace that I thought I was never going back or had no wish to ever go back--I might be a little aware of getting all of my things when I left.

She may be subconsciously moving in one piece at a time. In time a drawer will be occupied, then a corner of the closet.

She may also be testing to see if the fellow freaks out. If he reacts badly, he may be bringing other women home. A pleasant reaction could show that he may not mind shring space in the future.

It's possible because that always gives you a reason to return to get your stuff back.

Is your sister a forgetful person? If she’s not; then she may still have feeling for him because she left things intentionally so she could go back and see him.

I've heard that one, too. Yes, it is suppost to mean that you feel comfortable in that place.

Yes in as far as you have a reason to go back for your possession.
